GVSU Basketball Weekly Report: Getting Back on Track

The Grand Valley State Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams returned home to Allendale for the first time in February this past weekend as both looked to right their respective ships following tough losses in Detroit to Wayne State the previous Saturday afternoon.

The GVSU Men and Women hosted the Roosevelt Lakers (Thursday night) and Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers (Saturday afternoon) inside the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena and came out with a couple of GLIAC doubleheader sweeps to get back to their winning ways before heading back on the road for three straight beginning this weekend.

Here’s how the recent weekend unfolded:

A couple of individual milestones were reached over the weekend, one on each team:

The Laker Men climbed up a few notches in the Coaches Poll nationally, while the Laker Women stood pat for another week remaining in the top three:

The GVSU Men and Women are back on the road for three straight beginning this weekend as they make trips to the east side of the state and back up to the Upper Peninsula:

#3 GVSU WOMEN (23-1, 15-1 GLIAC)

• Saturday, February 21st at Lake Superior State Lakers (6-18, 3-12) – 1 pm

#15 GVSU MEN (20-4, 13-3 GLIAC)

• Thursday, February 19th at Saginaw Valley State Cardinals (11-13, 5-11) – 7:30 pm
• Saturday, February 21st at Lake Superior State Lakers (13-11, 8-8) – 3 pm
